One quick thing to point out on the media consolidation tip. TNN is owned by Viacom, who also owns MTV/VH1/Nick-- where Ren & Stimpy have shown up at various times over the years. At the end of the day, the money still goes to the same corporate overlord-- just through a nicer minion. http://tv.yahoo.com/news/tvg/20020627/102518648500.html has a bit more info about what to expect.

I'd like to see a return to the glory days, but is anything over at Spumco funny? George Liquor is a great character, but none of the post R&S cartoons I've seen are very good.

Why does my grilfrined not like it when I do something gross, but at the same time she likes Ren and Stimpy?

"Glazed ham. Oh, my precious ice cream bar, I love to lick your creamy middle!!"
This news made my week! I always thought the glorious grossness of Ren and Stimpy was terrific (I should have remembered how much I like this when I wrote my rant against cartoons--but Ren and Stimpy were never a mere cartoon)

This is great news, and I look forward to the new (and restored) episodes.
But I feel a lttle sorry for TNN. John K. has a reputation for being, ah, difficult.
I'll have to hunt up those Paint by Number kits...
