I thought the iPod had, if not SDMI, then CPRM?
(Far as I know there's none of that in the gadget

Does the Archos work with Linux? I.e., does it look like a USB Mass Storage device or something standard, or does it need proprietary Windows-based management software?
The idea of a pocket-sized hard disk recorder which also plays MP3s and can be used for shlepping files back and forth is very appealing.
