There is a recent paper that is very similar to Degui's and one he recommened to me, Gene Selection for Cancer Classification using Support Vector Machines, I. Guyon, J. Weston, S. Barnhill and V. Vapnik, Machine Learning 46(1/3): 389-422, January 2002.
