Another early adopter's toy that no doubt won't work.

Hurray!

I don't even own a DVD player yet. . .

Yeah, I am kind of turned off by the device's needs for heavy upstream servers and infrastructure. Makes me nervous, and it will never come to Louisville.

I've seen one of these in person, and I have to admit they're pretty cool. But read carefully: the company isn't selling devices; they're selling a solution...and they're hoping a telecom company buys it, not you.

That's right; no rigging this bad boy to talk to your 802.11 network--you're entirely dependent on the network your provider has, like your cell phone. Unless, of course, you want to hack it; I'm told it's all Java. :)

you can add your name to the list of product testers....not guaranteed to be chosen, but there's still a chance....

Yeah, whatever, PLX. So anyway Cory, if you can get to see one in action, when can we?

Eh. The true universal "PADD" hasn't happened yet, and I'm surprised.

I've always felt PDA's would be more successful and ubiquitous if they appealed to "everyday users" and not just technophiles. Something somewhere in size between the standard Palm and a VHS tape.

They need to be technologically deep, covering all the bases (audio, video, email, internet, celphone, camera, bluetooth, blabbity blah). But they also need to be simple enough for my mom to be able to operate it. Lots of one-touch functionality. Click the camera button, point-and-click to shoot. Click the email button type the email and mail it. Big colorful crap for simpletons. Sorry, mom.

And they need to be $200.
