Agree entirely re. the Very Disney LWW; HP4 was more engaging! Kong tonight. (Web 2.0 is current blogospheric jargon intended to hype the intarweb. Well-targeted, minimalist advertising may end up painlessly bridging the gap to real-world micropayment systems, so it's a laudable development imo. But I'd be interested to hear whether you get anything approaching the predicted US$2K/month from your adsense banner. :)

I'll be curious to hear what you think of Kong. It's been widely dissed on the Mafia list, but I liked it. As to money - well, nothing so far, and I won't be surprised if nothing at all proves to be the case. We'll see, though.

I didn't quite get your Doctorow post. It appears to state that you're editing an anthology with one story in it. Wouldn't that be a chapbook? Or a very short novel?

Doh. I edited the post. There will be 14 or 15 storis in The Starry Rift. "Anda's Game" is the only reprint.

Kong: lovely homage; insanely Peter Jacksonish; very cool. Definitely superior to the other two fantasy flicks.

Hey Jonathan,

Happy birthday for Monday!

You mentioned in an earlier post that you were interested in hearing from people about what kind of panels they'd like to see you do at Conjure.

Just FYI, a draft list of panel ideas is now up on the Conjure website at http://www.conjure.org.au/panels.htm

We're looking for feedback!

For anyone else interested in putting their hands up to be on panels, now is the time to tell us and, you know, join the convention.

Best wishes,
Kate.

hey jonathan--

i think that second panel idea is pretty cool. i've always considered that the influence for spec fic writers has always been more 'western' than country/nationality/whatever. i think when you do get influences on australian writers that are, for lack of a better term, australian, you're sliding out of the genre stuff. but either way, i'd think it'd be interesting. you should thread the conversation through your blog.

>surely living in Australia must have some impact on writers and what they write.<

Oh god, oh god, oh god ...

Now listen, fellow Clut member, no using the name of any inferential entity who may or may not occupy a deific role in any belief system in vain (or any other way). And I know the panel sucked more than anything else that had ever sucked before. It was bad and painful and horrible to behold. Still, the question lingers... (And no, not like farts linger, like questions linger...)

Aw! Am I the only one who didn't think that panel sucked? But beware that Miracle Ingredient A mindset, my Teletubby friend ...

Yes. You are the only person who thought that panel didn't suck! Of course, you didn't have to answer all of the questions first, ensuring that everyone was simply responding to your statements. :)

hey, i answered some questions first... anyhow, did you just call deb a clut? that 'u' is really quite close to another letter, like, the 'i' for example... and, if you just move take away the 't' and add a 'n' why, you might just have my favourite word... :)

Oh, oops! Hey, if I'd known that I would've spent more time saying, 'What a stupid statement, what kind of ignoramus would make a statement like that?!' :)
