That's pretty cool! I always wondered how all of those are connected. Now I know!

You could always sing "Y.M.C.A." to the tune of "We'll Gather Lilacs..."

Some of the things people are doing with the Amazon API are really cool. Check out this similarity map for Toast...

When i was doing developer work on DirectX, i received my annual conference tickets from Microsoft...

This time they arrived in a small black soft card box. Inside was some hires photo-fax shots of Geiger furniture, and an audio cassette of someone trying to do a War Of The Worlds bit of hype.

A few weeks later the conference which was to be held in New York was cancelled.

A newstory kicked about 18 months later that a warehouse owned by Microsoft had been burgled. But the people who broke in ran away when they found a spaceship inside!

It was the main prop for the cancelled show.

"Now if only I could figure out how to get my words into the New York Times for real ..!"

Hi, Charlie,

What, precisely, would you like to have published in the NY Times? (You have my private e-address.)

Best wishes,
David

David -- it was a sort-of generic "if only". (Dunno if you've been following what's been happening to the magazine biz lately, but the computer mags I write for have been hurting, thanks to advertising revenue dropping like the proverbial stone. If I didn't have a novel to write I'd be hunting new work as hard as I could.)

I'm sorry. All I can think of is the obvious T-Shirt.

"I've had my hand up Cthulu's arse, and I'm still here. How are you a threat?"

(edited to an a rather important "h" to that last word.)
