Hello, My name is James Halfaday and I am a firefighter in Virginia, who will be attending the National Firefighter Memorial (26th) in Emmitsburg, Maryland Sunday October 7th at 0800-11am. Please Click Below; http://www.godhatesfags.com/fliers/sep2007...morial-service-.pdfhttp://www.godhatesfags.com/fliers/Picket_Information.htmlI am coming up there with two other firefighters I am trying to get more lined up. I am planning on standing in front of the National Fire Acadmey where these protesters will be to act as a buffer zone, I will be in my full firefighter gear along with my other firefighters. I am trying to get more firefighters to help me out to aid here. I am wondering if you folks can send some help up there to me as well so I can have a stronger buffer zone? I can coordinate with you if you like. These people call us "Fag Enablers" and they pray for us to die. Please email me back as soon as possible to help aid. Or if you know of others in the area to aid. My email address is jameshalfaday@hotmail.com or you can contact me via my cell phone at 909-575-9417 A Faithful Firefighter, James "Gov" Halfaday

Rich, call me during the day, if you can, at 804-734-2448. I cannot say for sure about a Charlottesville Chapter- we won't have a good current picture of the ALR until the conference later this month- but I can give you some emails, possibly some numbers, to call around and make inquiries.

Just saw this site but I'm wondering if it's still active as the last post is from last summer. I belong to Post 74, Charlottesville VA. Are the Legion Riders active there?

I would like to ask that an event I sponsor over here each year get added to your calendar. August 14th this year we are holding our 4th annual Relay for Life Hope Run. It is a Poker Run on the back roads of the Eastern Shore where you get to take in farmland, marsh, seaside and bayside waterways and wildlife scenery. Registration starts at 10:30 AM due to the distance some riders come, (northern Delaware and a few from Virginia Beach). Last bike in is normally 3:30 PM and the ride runs somewhere between 55-70 Miles depending on that years route. Before and during our awards and door prize announcements we have either a band or DJ, this year the establishment is providing a local southern rock band. Additionally, and this part is now our signature of the event, we have a seafood buffet with steamed shrimp, clams, scallops, and sometimes crabs along with swedish meatballs, hot wings, salads, sodas, etc. There is beer and wine served as well. Since this is our 4th year we have asked some cancer survivors to be our servers this year. The first year we had 51 bikes show up, then 94, and last year 103. As always with these things, volunteers are always needed and we are growing some to where we can handle more riders. Last years event raised $64.00 shy of $3,000.00 for the cause. This year thru sponsorship of the plaques, food, T-Shirts and Ride Pins we hope to beat the elusive $3,000.00 mark.
Some hotels and campgrounds on the island always offer a discounted rate for anyone traveling far enough they would like to stay overnight.
So, here it is, ALRs, your are invited to attend and ride to have fun, see different country and raise money for a good cause. If anyone wishes to assist, they are very welcome as well.
Thank you and keep ridin! Scoty
Thanks go to Scoty for this Event Randy Shrader

In an effort to help gain some much needed funds to help the National Advisory Committee to properly function, we have set up a half pot (50/50) raffle to be drawn Aug 21st. at the American Legion Riders Midwest Romp. Below you will find an entry ticket that you can print out, fill in the information and send it in to the address listed on the ticket. For those that want to participate in the raffle, for every $5.00 that you invest in this raffle, please be sure that you have filled out an entry blank for that $5.00 entry fee. (i.e. If you wish to have your name in the drawing 4 times then you must fill out 4 entry blanks and send them along with your $20.00 check or money order.) In order to make sure that everyones entries make it to Wisconsin in time for the drawing we are putting a deadline postmark of Aug. of Aug. 10th on entries to allow ample time for the postal system to delivery them. American Legion Riders of Honors Award
The American Legion Riders of Honor Award is a distinction that is considered to be the highest form of award that is given to a American Legion Riders member, This award connotes that the recipient has gone far above and beyond the call of duty for the American Legion Riders organization with their dedication, drive and determination in helping to make the American Legion Riders prosper and grow. Only those people who have met these criteria should be nominated for this award.
1. One nomination per state per year to be forwarded to the ALROH Board. If more than one chapter in a state has a nomination, then a board of ALR members consisting of at least one member from each chapter should convene to decide which nomination it will forward for consideration for the year.
2. The nominated person should be a full American Legion Riders Member for a minimum of 3 years.
3. A letter outlining the qualifications and accomplishments of the nominee must be sent to the confirmation board, which is comprised of past ALROH winners. No nomination with a postmark date later than April 30 will be considered. There will be a maximum of 4 winners of the Honor Patch awarded per year. All determinations of the confirmation board will be final.
4. Winners of the American Legion Riders of Honors patch will be announced at the American Legion Riders National Party. (To be held Aug. 19-22 2004 in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin.)
