I like the blue metal flake idea - maybe you could get three black dots on the hood placed like finger holes.

I can't say I care for chaotic car art - most of it looks like a bunch of junk hot-glued to the car! Some cars like the VW Bug with several thousand lights, the long car (Cadillac?) with thousands of tiny mirrors glued to it, even the Carthedral -- those are cool and have something that grabs the eye. The other stuff...ugh!
Check out the 1976 Cadillac decorated with 5,000 pieces of bent spoons and a 1963 Corvair bejeweled with 160,000 gemstones and beads. There's also handy tips here on building an eye-popping art car.
