I just sent this message to Starbucks:

I just bought the little Springtime toy bear advertised on your site. I got to your site through a link from Boingboing.net, describing how your lawyers send threatening letters to anyone who links to you.

I was so surprised at this attitude that I followed Boing's link to Starbucks to see what all the fuss was about and there was the little bear for my niece. Perfect size, perfect price.

Ironic, don't you think?

2600.com has been dealing with this at a much more immediate level with Ford MoCo for awhile. Check their site to read about their case. Nutshell: the judge agreed with 2600 that linking to ford (from Fordreallysucks.com)is not a trademark infringement, as Ford asserted in their lawsuit. Ford is appealing, natch.
