Heh. I should have known using the imperative - 'Talk to me!' - would almost guarantee that few would.
(That 'ineluctable modality' thing was a half-assed James Joyce reference, ShinyKnows. I just like the sound of 'ineluctable modality of the fart joke'...)
I barfed that post out yesterday because it was on my mind, but I sense that I said badly what I wanted to say.
My point was not that I expect the people who write the bloggywebstuff (or design or code or make pretty pictures) to be on all the time, or to simultaneously amuse, bemuse and amaze me.
I had just noticed that some of the 'serious' blogs I enjoy are way too fucking serious, and I got to thinking about voice, and wondering if the people who write them would be the boring stodgy self-important pompous (but erudite and learned) types that I absolutely loathe spending time with in Real Life, or if their in-print voices were divergent from their actual personalities. And if that were the case, then why the hell not lighten up and have some fun?
Which led me to thinking about what sort of people my closest pals tend to be, and yadda yadda and a bit more yaada. It wasn't meant to be some sort of statement of yardsticking and elitism, which it would appear a certain Incendiary Avian has taken it to be...
I'm leaving the goddamn post there, though, 'cause I like the pics of Plato/Groucho...
