<JastaElf falls at Rhysenn's feet in stunned homage.> That was so painfully, wonderfully, terribly, WORTH THE WAIT!!!! Oh Lord, Rhysenn, I am sobbing my heart out while I type... you are one truly gifted writer. Poor Legolas -- and Boromir, oh God, what a rat bastard.... I am just stunned.

Lord knows, that creep is one talented Top.... damn his eyes! He knows exactly what to do, and how, and when, and one begins to suspect he's either got the instincts of Sauron, or knows far more about Elves than he lets on. <shudder>

And this line broke my heart:

"Aragorn paused, and looked deeply into Legolas's eyes. "You are suffering greatly in spirit."

"Yes." Legolas whispered; the word left his lips like a lone snowflake falling to the ground."

That's when the tears started. And OH, the yummy foreshadowing!! " 'Yet perhaps you need not look far for comfort.' Aragorn straightened, and looked at Legolas pensively. 'Maybe the weed of healing grows hidden at your very feet.' "

And the scary foreshadowing about Boromir having "something else" to bestow on his Elven slave.... Ooooo ICK, as Penfold might say to Danger Mouse.... :-)

I'm going back to read it over and over again, after refreshing the screen eight million times since the last update; I worship you, Rhysenn, and send you virtual baked goods of whatever is your favorite kind. :-) You so completely ROCK!!!

Bravo! Well worth the wait. This is a beautifully sad written story you have. Please don't make us wait as long for the next chapter. I love how you had Aragorn walk into the room and his desires were obvious but how he controlled it. oy!

Oh dear God, and Aragorn... magnificent portrayal of the lust and desire warring with his innate sense of decency!! I look forward to more interaction between them... :-) What flippin' fantastic characterization, action, hell -- what superb writing!!!

Anyway, in the reviews for chapter 3, there was a discussion about the "greenleaf" part of Legolas' name. I probably can't help much, except that I remember reading in the "Green Books" at theonering.net that at the time of the War of the Ring, Hobbits were the only race to use last names.

Yay! Yes, it was worth the wait, which actually wasn't all that long. I'm enjoying this story so much. Boromir is SUCH an ass, Legolas is so tragic, and Aragorn is, well, Aragorn: very human but very sweet. I'm on pins and needles for chapter five.

Aaaw, I want to KILL Boromir, that prick! And I always used to cry when I read LotR and he was killed. Thank God I can comfort myself with the fact that this is an alternative universe.
It's wonderfully written, lika always:)It's like your there. I love that you let the chapters come so quickly after one another. And I absolutely don't think two weeks is to long; as long as *you* keep on writing it's defintily worth the wait!

When you wrote "Legolas waited until the footsteps faded away into cold silence, before he allowed the bitter tears to fall. He slumped back against the wall and slid to the floor, a body beautiful and broken", it just broke my heart.
I hate Boromir, hate, hate hate him!
Please explain more fully about the physical violation of Elves. If Boromir continues to torment Legolas, how will he then live?? And when will Aragorn step in and save him?
Ah, I cannot wait for Chapter 5.......

It was beautiful as always, full of angst- the best kind of emotion- not simply compressed into one brief paragraph. You let the pain and the horror linger throughout the chapter and throughout your stories; it's magnificent how you manage to capture their feelings and see through their eyes, and be able to express it back to your dedicated fans.

I think I need some weed of healing myself.

Poor Legolas! You capture his proud spirit and the crushing of it beautifully. Your Boromir is not a monster per se, but an overproud, selfish, ultimately ordinary man, which is more frightening. The sex was...harrowing. And Aragorn was wonderful. I like how you keep him canonically Aragorn, with Aragorn's gentle spirit and healing powers, while also planting him firmly in this AU. Here's hoping for some Aragorn/Legolas loving, and for Boromir to pay Lego's future therapy bills, which I suspect will be substantial.

I know when I've found a story that really moves me. It takes twice as long to finish because I keep re-reading each fascinating paragraph.
You write all the characters with depth and your 'elf' knowledge certainly adds to the plot.

Superb angst. Please don't end it too soon.

I think your story is one of the best fanfics I've read, and I've been reading a lot recently. I would recommend this story to anyone who likes LotR, Legolas, Aragorn, and Boromir, or even just anyone who likes to read a good fanfic. It's amazing the amount of knowledge you have about the subjects in which you write. The way you write is beautiful itself. And the way you make well-rounded characters and keep them so similar to the characters in the books an movies. Boromir is not just the "bad guy," because he's not. He's a proud character, not neccesarily a "bad guy." His other traits are kept the same, too. Aragorn is sustained as a healer, and his compassion is shown throughout the whole story, as well as other traits. And the way you do Legolas! He is my favorite character, and you deplict his so well! It's very emotional, what you write, and I've reread it many times. I hope you hurry up with you next chapters, but I hope you don't end it to soon, either. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

I just found this story about two weeks ago and now i'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the next chapter...does anyone know how long it usually is before an update? i'm going to go out of my mind!

The bit that I loved?

"Do you taunt me, Legolas?" Aragorn asked; the heated passion in his tone surprised even himself. "Or are you asking me for something?"...'

It's brilliant! You are not shying away from the fact that Aragorn and Boromir are both men, and similar in some ways. Boromir takes Legolas in such a manner because his pride demands that he keep face with his peers (not to mention that he fancies the pants, or leggings at least, off the elf), coupled (excuse the pun) with the fact that there is no other way for him to get what he wants - and he was brought up safe in the knowledge that he would be King and could TAKE whatever he wanted.
 Aragorn, as true heir to the throne of Gondor, could have been brought up in that way.
He could be, and for a moment, is; exactly the same.
'He was appalled at himself for thinking of Legolas in that manner, even briefly; it was like a swift glimpse into a dark mirror of cruelty, an ominous reminder that he, too, was human.'

YES! But thank god he's a gentle one at heart, or I'd have to shake my fist at him as well.

WRITE MORE! Please! I'm checking back three times a day, and I know I'm not the only one. We grovel at your feet, Rhysenn; only you can help us! Underline that 'Five'? *puppy eyes*

I think it's really marvellous of you to study all these Eldarin customs in detail! Most people wouldn't bother. I just finished reading what you wrote before and what I wrote. Sorry! I sounded so snobish and self centered! I just really like this story!

This is my absolute favorite LoTR fiction. Like most of you, I check in daily, hoping with fingers crossed, that today is the day that Chapter Five appears. But let's remember that Rhysenn might actually have a life outside of her writing that she must attend to, and after all, isn't quality worth waiting for?
Think of how many phrases from Chapters One through Four are so heartbreakingly descriptive. That level of story-telling can't be easy, so I'd rather have a few chapters that make me feel and cry and love than dozens of slapped-together scenes without continuity and flow and character development.
So, thank you, Rhysenn, for a wonderful experience. We appreciate your wonderful story line and our impatience waiting for the next installment should be viewed as the highest form of flattery!

I wanted to let you know that I am enjoying this story, obviously in the hope that you will be encouraged to continue it. It has a strong atmosphere of melancholy, which emanates from the character of Legolas, who has been trapped in this world, and also from Aragorn, who is equally caught.
Personally, I wonder if a bit of a prequel, describing how Boromir gave in to his dark side, so to speak, might not have made his character more believable? For me, the character of Legolas is well-established: I feel that he is pretty much doing the only thing he can: trying to survive. Complete surrender and total resistance would both be suicidal, if perhaps in different ways, and he has to tread a line between them in a way that will maintain his sanity.
Aragorn, also, is a man in conflict with himself and that is well-conveyed, with him being torn between pity and a desire to help the elf, keep doing his job, which is necessary to his self-respect, and also (nice touch) he has seen the darkness inside himself in the form of that attack of lust. All these serve to make him a more rounded character.
Maybe we have in that last element a hint of what undid Boromir: where Aragorn resisted, he gave in, and the Boromir we have now is the result. But without that being made more overt, his character seems a little one-dimensional. But that’s just my humble opinion, yours to ignore.
And as for what deep game Gandalf is playing, only time will tell.
Anyway, please keep writing. I’ll look forward to it.
