Have you heard Gabby Pahinui's Windward Heart?

Always makes me smile.

There's a show on my local station who's host, Charlie Gillett, is a big Bob Brozman fan.

Thanks! Amazon.com has some free MP3s from Devil's Slide and I just listened to them. They're excellent.

Devil's Slide and Hello Central, Give Me Dr. Jazz! are my two favorites, and similar in style to Blue Hula Stomp (but better!). Both are on Rounder Records, IIRC.

Blue Hula Stomp has been on heavy rotation around my house for a while now. What other Brozman albums do you recommend?

King Bennie was truly amazing. Playing Hawaiian-style lap-steel guitar, with those heavy, heavy metal slides is difficult, but King B. made it seem laughably easy. Just listen to his recordings, he dances all over the strings like Tinkerbell. He was probably juggling with anvils and laughing while all those sides were being recorded. What a hero. Mark, are you familiar with the work of Bob Brozman?

Thanks for da link. Wife's 3rd gen Hawaii. Once played her a Gabby album early in the courtship, trying to be cool. She said, oh, yeah, Gabby. I partied at his house. Her dad's 80, used to play uke. I'll mention King Nawahi to him, maybe get a story.
