Welcome! The KDOGS (Kent Dog Owners Group and supporters) message board is to promote Off-Leash Area's for dogs in Kent WA and surrounding area. It is for the use of KDOGS members and provides a means of interactive communication.

This is place to meet each other, ask questions, make suggestions, and have fun. We tend to know each others dogs before we know owners -- it may useful to tell about your dog when you are introducing yourself.

Enjoy!

I think this forum is a great thing. I also love the option of having messages sent to our emails. I think people will use this forum if it is linked to our web site. And, I think that it should be open to anyone who would like to post on it. Thoughts from others?....

What would you all think of having a joint garage sale in the spring to raise a little money for KDOGS so we can have flyers and business cards and things like that done up? A KDOGS garage sale would also spread the word of KDOGS.

to all: Any recommendations for a GOOD boarding kennel in South County?

Wes, thanks for your efforts.

Unfortunately, our little Shi-Tzu/Terrier mix died on Monday. Her heart failed, and fortunately she suffered very little. My wife and I really miss her.

Dogs require a lot of care and time, and sometimes we all get frustrated with them. But nothing can match the unconditional love they provide. Dogs have magic.

So, everybody give your dog an extra pet for Mattie.

Tom

Tom, i'm very sorry for your loss -- it is hard! I will give Spirit an extra hug - in Mattie's name. It is too easy to take our friends for granted.

Wes (BTW it is a GROUP effort)

Wes, From a recommendation of other dog owners at Clark Lake, we have been boarding our dogs at Centennial Kennel in Maple Valley at 236 & 18 Hwy. They have heated sleeping areas and our dogs were healthy after 10 days there during all the cold and snow 3-8 to 3-17.

Wes, we take our dogs to Soos Creek Kennels on 208th. The owner lives on site and they have indoor/outdoor runs. We are very impressed with the care our dogs get while there. We have one dog who has to be given medicine daily and they always manage to do a great job giving it to her.

Tom, althought I have never met you or your Mattie, I am sincerely sorry about your loss. So far I've been extremely lucky and have never had to deal with it, but I know the time will come. I can only hope that I have the support of good friends and other animal people to help me through it. Please know that we are here for you and thinking about you and hugging our pets in Matties memory.

Suggestions are needed as to where we should post flyers to get others involved in KDOGS. If you have a suggestion, please post it here, or email it to me. elynnc@earthlink.net. Thanks!

Actually, just what flyer are we talking about posting? Is it on a web page somewhere? Grocery stores have bulliten boards, Home depot, pet stores??, is this what you are talking about.

Robert, there is a flyer at Clark Lake on the bulletin board there if you get a chance to go there and see it. It is just a flyer that tells briefly about KDOGS and asks people to email me to join, and to check out our web site. We are posting it an Marymoor park too. Local pet stores are a great idea, as well as local kennels and groomers perhaps.

I go to Clark Lake Park on a regular basis. How can I help to make it a dog park? Do you need help with putting up flyers? Do we need signatures for anything?

For Kristy Sandoval: Hi Kristy, You can help! We have an critically important public hearing about South County dog parks this month (probably the 25th). We must get information out -- we need a huge turn out or we get no parks. Send me your email address (wchouse@msn.com)so we can get you more information. Thanks - we need you!

Kristy,
Yes! We need you! As soon as we get the go-ahead about the April 25th meeting, I will need help printing and distributing flyers. It would be more fun if I had someone to distribute them with me! Or, we could split up. In any case, we will need to meet to coordinate things, but we need to wait until after the April 5th meeting. I'll keep you posted.
Anyone else willing to help would be great!

The Open House regarding plans to bring dog parks to South King County was a sucess for dogs and dog owners. This is a direct result of your work to publicize the event, and the attendance by so many KDOGS people. The outlook for dog parks is very good. Thank You!

So is there a off leash park at clark lake? My neighbor told me about the place but reading these messages and looking at the list of off leash parks on the KDOG main site it is not listed there.

Clark Lake is not an Off-Leash Park. It sends a bad message to those that do obey the leash law in addition to the non-dog owners that just want to walk the park. It would help the efforts to get an off leash park near Clark Lake if current dog owners would respect the other walkers (with or without dogs)by leashing their pets.
