I have a similar ritual with the (so-called) cappuccino machine at the Exxon TigerMart... always afraid it's gonna cheat me out of a precious ounce or two, so I hold the button down a little longer than recommended.
Typical result: Sticky faux-cappuccino foam running down the side of the cup, and occasionally down my sleeve....
