STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Surface Hydrology Research Group of the University of Connecticut has an opening for one Ph.D. position in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The primary objective of the Ph.D. project is to improve current satellite-based evapotranspiration algorithms with the ultimate goal of obtaining more accurate evaporation estimates across the globe using MODIS datasets. For this purpose, the Ph.D. project involves field experiments (deploying scintillometer and other sensors), remote sensing data (MODIS, ASTER, LANDSAT) and strong quantitative analysis. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in evapotranspiration algorithms and image processing. Send letter of application, vita, unofficial transcripts, and contact information for three references to Dr. Mekonnen Gebremichael, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Connecticut, 261 Glenbrook Road Unit 2037, Storrs, CT 06269-20367, USA. For further questions, you may contact us at 860-486-2771 or mekonnen@engr.uconn.edu
