Tying into an earlier entry (about "Space: 1999"),
there's one episode that mentions that all organized
sports were subsequently banned on Earth (even
World Series baseball!) in the interests of domestic and world peace.

i can sympathize. a kid next door received a basketball and hoop for christmas and it's a constant thunk, thunk, twang! thunk, thunk, twang! thunk, thunk, twang! i don't think that kid has ever actually made a basket from the sounds of it. he leaves his toys out at night and i'm planning a mission to go steal that ball.
