I have just recently begun to do serious geneological research into my surname. My branch of the family is from Rogersville, Hawkins County, Tennessee. My father was Chester Robert Chess, son of George Smith Chess, son of John Rufus and Linneller Johnson Chess. We include Cherokee Indian heritage in our family and I found a listing of one Chess on one of the old Cherokee rolls. I am eager to communicate with all others who share the Chess name.
