MSP lunch scans, I knew it was just a matter of time before I had to deal with this. I've been avoiding it because handbooks and manuals are rather vague on this. Today the stupervisor started to preach "lunch scans", manual says "carriers may be authorized" to leave at a different time and place and we are to scan when we reach the scans. My question is "may be authorized" kind of says that we have to request a deviation. If I had a lunch scan that was early on my route, I could always be there within 6 hours, therefore i should never have to deviate from that scan point. But due to things like weather, I may want to wait until later in the day to eat (of course within 6 hours) but I should have that flexibility to decide on any given day, just when I do break for lunch. Can they even dictate where we break, my scan is quite far into my route and on any above average day, I cannot get there within 6 hours, now they want to change mt chosen break point. Can they do that?
