zeus,

It was a 8 hour day. Projection was under 8. Would not hurt the average. To throw that day out would hurt more than help unless the total was less than 8. Etour, YOu are right. I only carried 1 hour and felt like a heart attack was a coming. His route has hills like San Franciso. I gained more respect for that carrier by doing that 3 loops.

i know it's not allowed, but it should be mandated that every supervisor and postmaster, and especially district, area, and HQ bigshots, should have to carry a whole route for one week, twice a year (in summer heat and winter freeze). over the years, there have been so many changes that have made the job more difficult... dps, 3rd bundle straight to the street, scans for all types of mail, msp, bad barcodes, etc. most of those in charge and making decisions that affect the craft are clueless. our own pm constantly says, "when i carried mail...", that was 15+ years ago! things are not the same. toto is not in kansas anymore

pm 16.......i hope the district evaluation and adjustment team throws that day out during next round of adjustments or you will have even fewer employees to do the work next time.

Let me break in down for you. they have 3 routes, only PTF in Iraq. Carrier wants off on AL for the next week. NO PTFS to borrow or avail. 1 Reg working day off on friday. Had to split route with RCA, Clerk, and me. No contract violation. 2 other reg working do not want to carry extra and want to go home after their 8 hours. I guess you want me to force the other 2 to carry 4 hours each to work 12 hours until 7.30 at night? The carrier who worked his day off had a accident mowing the day before and had 8 stitches in his finger. His doctor did not want to work but he knows we have nobody to work. Working together regardless of the craft is sometimes the only way. I guess you figure we have a 3 way violation. RCA, clerk and PM. It would be no greater violation for me to carry or the RCA or clerk.

How about posting your stations address so we can contact the local branch to see why you (as acting PM) are performing bargaining unit work.

PURE BLATANT VIOLATION OF THE CONTRACT.

However, it's nice to know you've now at least done carrier work and know what we do and what we have to put up with.

Have been filling in for my PM buddy at a level 20 so he can be acting MPOO. I got to carry 1 hour on a park and loop up up and down hills. Wow, 4 years since my Letter Carrier days. Sure have a greater respect for the carriers after that eye opening experience. Haven't sweated like that in a long time.

/m45910 stan2726......we give foot routes here 7 minutes extra fot which is really 10 minutes because they are capturing the 3 minutes they do not check a truck. not much but i think deserved. most carriers don't use the full 33 minutes anyway. i thought you meant you budle every loop of dps mail. i was mistaken. if we have more mail in a loop to hold with one hand, we rubber band the additional bundles also. not a lot in this volume environment.

From page 296 of the MRS:

"C-24768 National Arbitrator Briggs
October 31, 2003, J94N-4J-C 98009292

A route change of greater than 50% does not
constitute an “abolishment” under Article 41.3.O
of the National Agreement."

As a National level arbitration, this is controlling unless you have something specifically different written into your LMOU.

FedUp .is that in writing? "route doesnt go up for bid unless route number has changed?" I need to read up on this all today.Have many routes been changed over 51%. Carriers feel all jr routes should be up for bid. Gotta see it in print. Thanks

Eagle /m45911 "I hope this is grievable because they have eliminated 99% of her route!"

Sorry. It's not grievable. Until they change the route number, the route doesn't go up for bid, after they make changes to it.

NECarrier /m45914 That is why the carriers should have input when your office is being COR'd. If they don't...walk your route as directed. 271 them in 6 weeks!
