I recently came across Rich Mackin's book tour list, people looking for inspiration or venue ideas might want to check it out -- www.richmackin.org.

When you're looking to book a venue, call all the places that you would like to have the event at at once -- I've found that calling one place at a time gives you a lot of stress when you're waiting for Mr. Booker to get back to you. You can always book a venue, and if a better venue comes up you can cancel with the first place -- assuming you give them a month or so of leadtime to find a replacement.

For those doing mailouts to places you're touring to, here's a list of Canadian newspapers. It has e-mail addresses, fax numbers, voice numbers and addresses. A great resource!

Here is Richard Needhams method..Buy a criers bell, get a pull along buggy a dozen roses, and hit the GO stations at rush hour. Ring the bell, announce to the commuters that the Great Canadian Novel is here at last ! and give a free rose to any nice female purchasers....

f2XtZq A number of universities have awarded her honorary degrees, and she earned a prestigious job on the staff of Detroit congressman John Conyers. In 1988 Roxanne Brown noted: "Thirty-two years after she attracted international attention for sparking the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Mrs. Parks's ardent devotion to human rights still burns brightly, like a well-tended torch that ignites her spirit and calls her to service whenever she is needed."
