Thanks, Skippy, for your reply. No, There is no gain in hours by the change. My situation has been much the same as yours. My lobby opens early, my window opens early. I'll still be going in at the same time. (At least until they decide to make Postmaster a part time position.)

If you district is like mine and changes POOMs like they change underwear, you can just wait until you get a new POOM and get the hours rechanged. It's amazing how much stuff gets lost everytime the torch gets handed over.

We reached an equitable agreement. My POOM is usually reasonable, and good sense prevailed this time.

Lunch stays the same- we compromised on how much to cut the opening time. It's not quite win-win, but I didn't lose as badly as I thought I would at first.

Have you read the articles about the "standby rooms" ? I just took over a LVL 21 and its really top heavy with regular clerks doing nothing. After reading that other offices are just having their non productiive clerks sit in the breakroom and read manuals for up to 8 hours a day, I'm totally disheartened.. I know that we can abolish and revert yada yada , but some of these people will be in these jobs for years before we can abolish them .Whats your thoughts?

/m2440 Parody - I would suggest asking your POOM for an outside Function 4 review. Once they determine what your complement should be, it will give you a basis to start the process of reverting or abolishing depending if the position is vacant or occupied. Some clerks may need to be excessed out of your PO. Read the APWU contract on this subject and follow it by the book. Also enlist a Labor Rep for help, if there's something you don't understand. It can be done, but just be sure to do it right.
