The cost of the trials will depend on which section you are entering.
Juniors, Yacs, and Seniors will pay £18.00 (6 games) Adults will pay £40.00 (16 games) Any bowler who enters the Adult Section will pay this price, but if they are eligible for another section, the first 6 games will count as their score in that section. They will pay the Adult charge and nothing else.
I hope this is clear.

Can someone explain why we have a trial in October for a tournament that will be played 11 months later. If we had the trials next summer we would get a team that was on form plus bowling centres are usually empty in the summer so we might get cheaper linage and so lower the cost of entry.

Carl,
The reason the trials are held in October/November is because the County does not only enter teams in the Adult Division. There are people trialling for the Juniors, Seniors and YACs as well. The Junior County Championships range from Decembr this year to I think it is September next year. The YAC County Championships are held in February and the 1st round of the Seniors is held I think in June. The squads for the Adult Counties have to be with Bob Blaber by around 30th June, so trials held in the summer (I presume you mean around July) would not be much good, as the closing date for squad names has already passed.
I hope this answers your question.

CONGRATULATIONSonce again to Zara - DOUBLE WORLD CHAMPION.
Zara, together with Kirsten Penny have just won the Word Championship in the Doubles, bowling a staggering 2737.
Zara avraged 222 and Kirsten averaged 233.
They have also (as far as I can tell) broken 3 world records: The 1 game records - 513 (previously 504), the 3 game record (twice) - 1360, 1377 (previously 1337) and the 6 game record - 2737 (previously 2595). Their team average over the 6 games was 228!!!
Well done girls, keep it going.

just read about the trials. What happens if you dont get enough adult male or female bowlers trial because of the cost? will the teams then be made up of yac's and seniors as they have in the past.

Can the trails for the Adults and Seniors be held later, as we seem to be falling in with the youngsters because they bowl their county games earlier than us. As carl says 11 months is a long time, i was talking to Bob Blaber in Dublin at the weekend and he says there are lots of teams who dont play their trails till May and June..why cant we as we did before this year.

Karen, no we couldn't do that unfortunately, and it wouldn't be fair on those who had paid out for the full adult section if someone who had just paid for their age group was allowed to bowl in the team. Mo - we cannot split the trials into two sections in that way (ICC rules) it all has to be done at the same time, and as all the other 10 teams need to trial earlier than the adults they really should (as the majority) take preference. I will say that I would expect the top 15 to be the best bowlers in the county taken they are bowling on 2 days over 2 centres and a total of 16 games. With 15 to choose from, Chris and I should be able to find 7/8 on form bowlers from 15 without difficulty

Supermo,
I think your idea is great!!! Lets get the County to give individual trials to ALL the teams, say a choice of two weeks at each of two different centres, that should be ok, now lets see U14's, U16's, U18's, YAC's, Adults & Seniors, there you go it would only take 6 months of Sundays I'm sure the Committee have nothing better to do with their time.
After all the County is run for us !!!!!!!!!!

Time,
Thats not what Supermo is asking. you have to read the question. As he is eligable to bowl in the Adults & Seniors, he wants them combined so he wont have to bowl twice, and not with the kids, this way he gets the best of both worlds, at the least inconvenience to himself.

Time & Bubba. As I'm a Yac I think it should be the YAC's and Adults who's trials are combined, as there is only a small amout who can qualify for the Seniors so really they should have there own trials if it comes to that. That way we YAC's can all do it in one go.
