Does anyone have the manager's email address at the Houston Doubletree? I'd like to send him my own thoughts.

Probably that other blog person hasn't received the email that Cory did. Or not yet. I agree with Cory for taking it down, since that's what the author requested. If I had something around that I didn't want around, I'd hope that folks would act as Cory has.
But listen, that email he received was, well... Cory was right to deem it an attempt to intimidate. That pissed me off. So for now at least, I'm pointing my link to the working url.
Hmm, it's interesting how much I care about this. I guess it's because I was thrilled to see our community of blogs and such have an effect. I mean, yeah, so they're getting attitude training down at the DoubleTree. Big deal. That's a corporate thing: stop the bleeding. But the larger lesson is worth thinking about. Not necessarily trying to, we generated enough bad publicity for that hotel that they had to respond. That's cool. And the whole thing happened because the presentation is brilliant; it strikes a nerve. That's inspiring to me.
Okay, maybe I need to lie down now and get my blood pressure to drop.

That's somebody else's blog, who apparently was not so quick (or not so considerate) as Cory.
The USA Today article suggests that the author thinks the hotel has suffered enough. It wasn't the unavailability of his reservation that burned him - "these things happen," he says - as the attitude of Night Clerk Mike. The hotel reports that the staff, including Mike, are getting attitude training, so who knows, maybe it'll even help.

I took it down -- the author emailed me and asked me to. It's his work, so I've complied.

Just to be contrarian, I think I should point out that the message could be read as a request for you to authorize them to use the presentation. Maybe they want to use it as training material for "what not to do".
Just sayin. It can be read two ways.

Does anyone have a link to the FAQ mentioned in the USA Today article? Thanks.

What I like is that this was pretty much forgotten over time -- Cory blogs, we view and laugh, life goes on. The nastygram just reminded us of it all over again (and how many of us took another look.)

Keep us updated as to their continuing communication, if any. Somehow, I doubt they'll push this very far, but wouldn't it be fun if they tried? ---JRC

You know, I felt as though I'd walked in on a very bad joke without a punch line until I read that USA Today article. That has to be the most hilarious thing I've read, um, ah, this year. Proof, I guess, that some businesses *never* learn. Bastards.

My reply: Slide 17: > We'll Be Sending This Presentation to Promus Properties. > > > And to some friends. > We hope they'll share it with their friends! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ > If youd like a hard copy, email us at: > BearX220@hotmail.com. > Good luck! > And give our best to Mike! You're clearly not the copyright holder, your message is clearly intended to intimidate, and there's clearly an invitation in the body of the work itself, constituting a good-faith license, asking users to "share" this presentation. If you've got something to say, say it. I don't take kindly to intimidation tactics.
