Hi Folks...Am I really only the 3rd member here? That's wierd, maybe no L'Towners know about this Web board yet. Of course I've lived here 4 years and have just now learned about it. Anyway, I am Rick and live in Littlestown...just renting a place for now but I am shopping/looking for a house. The prices are kind of shocking to me as I am used to Tennessee prices--much lower. Of course yearly income is lower there also. I am somewhat discouraged at the taxes though, we had a 75K home in TN and our total taxes were under $200 a year. Not to complain...but why are the taxes here so high and yet for that price my garbage doesn't even get picked up? (let alone the road conditions) Are there Town meetings or anything like that here? I would really like an explanation for this. If someone has more info, please post it. Thanks

I was thinking primarily of images from digital cameras, although I have scans of my film images, too. I currently do not have a dedicated site for my images, but participate at: www.phototalk.net/photos.

Another example of what I'm envisioning is the State's site at www.winterinpa.com/winterinpa/travelerPhotos.jsp. I think of two principle benefits to this: potentially more traffic to your already great site, and it creates an opportunity for people to share their Littlestown images with each other.

Phototalk is a free site. I believe it's sponsored by several equipment retailers, although I don't see their pop-up ads too often. It's an offshoot of a similar site hosted by Popular Photography and is intended for photographers to share feedback and critiques of their images, but most people just post images.

I'm certain you can just create an account and upload your pictures. You probably have to "disclaim" them as not being your work for copyright purposes. I've seen other people post images of that nature. I've been messing around (experimenting?) using shoe mount flashes to mimick studio lighting and posting those shots hoping to get a little guidance...so far not much feedback. For some time I've been thinking about shooting some of the sights and scenes around town, but have only managed to grab a few images. Maybe that'll be my New Year's resolution? I'll start tonight my uploading my shot of St. Paul's.

So sorry it has taken me this long to get back to you.

Sorry about the previous post. Anyway, so sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. The holidays had me about crazy. In regard to the meetings, we received a phone call from the borough, that the upstairs of the community center would be closed until further notice due to renovations. We have not heard anymore from them, so until we do we will hold the meetings at Terry's house. We have also moved registration from the community center to Eagle Park. Registration will be held on Friday, January 24, 2003 from 7-9pm, Saturday, January 25, 2003 from 9am-noon, and Tuesday, January 28, 2003 from 7-9pm. The next general meeting will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2003 @ 7:00pm @ Terry Vaughn's house. Anyone interested in attending can phone 359-8784 for directions.

MAINTENANCE CREWMAN

The Borough of Littlestown is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Crewman. Work involves working independently, and as a crew member with other employees under the supervision of the maintenance supervisor. Work encompasses a wide variety of Borough projects including, but not limited, street maintenance, snow removal, water, sewer, and storm drain maintenance and installation, meter reading and installation, buildings and grounds maintenance and construction.

Applicant should be in good physical condition and able to lift heavy objects and work under adverse weather conditions. Position requires experience as an equipment operator (dump trucks, backhoes) and a valid Pennsylvania Drivers License with a CDL Class B certification (or be willing to obtain during the probationary period). Municipal experience a plus, but not required.

Job announcement, description and application are available at the Littlestown Borough Office, 46 East King Street, Littlestown, PA 17340. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of completing the Borough’s application package. The Borough offers an excellent benefit package. Applications will be accepted until Friday, September 23, 2005. L.A.H.S. Meetings

The first organizational meeting of the society will be held
on Tuesday, February 20th at 7:00PM in The Overflow Room of
Barts United Methodist Church. The Church is located at 50 East
King Street, Littlestown . The Third Tuesday of each month has
been set as a meeting date for the society. Formats for other
meetings has not been set. It is tentatively planned that once
established, these meetings will be used to present programs of
historical events.

Ideas for meetings of the L.A.H.S.

Meetings might be used to present historic information about a
 specific event, a specific building, a specific industry, a
specific person, or a specific method used in the Littlestown area
in the past. The meeting might be used to visit a specific landmark
locally or in Adams County. The meetings might be used to share
information from local writers or artist, or composers, who are using
their talents to bring the history of the Littlestown Area to the fore
front.

Directions to the LAHS meeting Room:

Enter Barts Centenary United Methodist Church through the front doors
on (50)East King Street. Once inside the entry proceed to the first
door on the left. This is the Overflow Room where our meetings will be
held.

What is Accepted:
- Up to 12 car or standard size truck tires per household
- Oversize tires (tires that are exceeding 48 inches in diameter or 15 inces in width) CANNOT be accepted

The Borough of Littlestown will be holding an open house on Sunday, August 5, 2007 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Littlestown Community Pool. The open house will not be for swimming but to allow residents and non-resident to observe all of the new additions and changes to the pool.

I need everyone in the Littlestown area to keep their eyes open for
my bird! I live on South Columbus Ave, near South Queen Street. He is
a cockatiel, gray with orange circles on his cheeks and a yellow
mohawk. His name is Tweet. If you happen to hear a bird whistling the "Andy
Griffin" tune, that is him!!! he has only been gone for a couple
hours,so hopefully he hasn't had time to hook up with the bad birds!
He is my baby!!! He follows me through the house all the time!!! Please help!!!! If you see or hear him, please call me, I don't
