Hee. Despite having been compulsively reading CivFanatics for weeks lapping up every last scrap of info about Civ3... I'm holding off on getting it. My life can't take the time hit right now. And, besides, I still haven't even tried Civ2 at Deity level.

I'm gonna try to hold off.
My experience with previous God Game binges is that I'll eventually burn out, and come to the realization that I'm wasting my time and attention.
But right now I've got a GURPS worldbook to finish, and a novel to start work on again, and . . . well, I started building rockets again so I'd have a hobby whose persuit resulted in something physical I could show off and be proud of, and I continue to think that even fiddling around with models is more productive than Civ time.
But man, it's soooo tempting.

I bought Civ III today, and then an hour later my car was broken into and it was stolen, along with $300 in new clothes and my car stereo. Which was hurridly cut out of my 84 Coupe DeVille, ruining the dashboard. So I don't have any opinions to offer yet.
I am also filled with murderous rage. 'Five days? But I'm mad NOW!'

DAMN! That's major suckage. Murderous rage sounds about right.
Look at the bright side: If the perp is a computer user, he'll be easy to find, sitting at home wrapped up in a Civ III game. "We had to shoot him Sarge, he wouldn't put down the mouse and he was making terroristic threats to some city in Greece."
