Susie,

I have had two (2) 156's in manual. The first was a 2.0 litre TS 5 speed and traded it in 2002 on a V6 6 speed. It had about 81,000 klms on the clock and the clutch and gearbox had never been touched nor had they given any trouble (it was regularly serviced by the Alfa Romeo dealer).

My current 156, 2.5 litre V6 6 speed has almost 80,000 klms and likewise no clutch or gearbox problems. This car has been traded on a new 159 2.2 JTS and delivery is expected in 3 weeks. It is of course a 6 speed manual.

Hope this helps,

Cheers & God bless,
Magnum

Thankyou to Magnum.......I'm assuming your V6 is an semi - auto so did you notice a vast difference between the 4 cyl to the 6 cyl in performance (I have driven the 4 cyl and liked it but I thought the salespeed was a little sluggish so I am thinking of getting a V6) also how is it on petrol consumption. Sorry for all the questions but I appreciated your imput.

Sussie,

My V6 is the 6 speed manual (NOT the Q4 auto). I can't think of anything worse than a auto Alfa Romeo, somehow to me it is a inconsistency in terms. The manual gearbox in the V6 was introduced to Oz in 2002 see http://www.fastlane.com.au/News_Alfa/6-speed_156V6.htm

Yes, the 2.5 ltr V6 manual is a stunning performer and, if you're an Afla Romeo enthusiast, the sound of the engine as you get above 5,000 RPM is pure entertainment (turn off the stereo).

Fuel consumption is quite reasonable. I use Pro-Ma Performance Products PT5 Plus fuel treatment to keep the engine clean, to enhance the octane and to improve fuel economy and the MBL8 Conc in the oil to keep the bottom engine lubricated and reduce friction, the enemy of power (I am a Pro-Ma Distributor, see my website www.pro-masystems.com.au/motor). Fuel consumption is around the 9.5 to 12 ltrs per 100 klms depending on how you drive it of course.

My 159 is only the 2.2 litre 4 cyl but the power is 136 Kw (verses 140 Kw for the 2.5 V6 in the 156).

Cheers and God bless

Sorry Susie,

Those links didn't work. The 156 V6 6speed link is:
http://www.fastlane.com.au/News_Alfa/6-speed_156V6.htm

My Pro-Ma performance products website is:
http://www.pro-masystems.com.au/motor

Just copy and paste them (one at a time) to your browser (in a new window)

Susie,

The new 159 comes with 17" alloys. Here's a news item I got off the web:
http://www.webwombat.com/motoring/news_rep...o-159-australia.htm

The 16" on the 156 weren't bad. I just love the telephone dial wheels. I recently put a new set of Firestone and they perform better than the original set.

Let's know what you get.

Cheers and God bless,

Hi Again Magnum.....well I am getting closer to buying a car......Have settled nearly on a 2000 model 156 v6 version but the Q4...i found it very nice and in my price range. I will be replacing the tyres when I get it and you said you put Firestone on your car..R u happy with them....and with not to much road noise from them....or would you suggest to keep looking perhaps a pirelli .

Thanks again

Susie

G,Day,
I have a 1957 Fiat New 500, it is a Australian delivered right hand drive. Chassis number 79002. Can any body tell me when they started making RHD versions as actual production started in 1957 on the model and LHD must have been produced first. It is a New 500, full folding roof, no front blinkers, teardrop side blinkers, small tappered tailights. considering the quantity made, approx 3.5 million (total 500 versions) this is pretty early in production. Thanks for any assistance, sincere Fiat nut,
Antonio Brancalion.
