well, there's portland [1] and then there's metro [2], but yeah i thought there were more people there, too... guess the lofts in old town/pearl district aren't filling up so fast.

btw, it is a press release :) copy & paste has made me lazy!

That sounds like a press release, but it's still pretty cool. I didn't know there were only 210,000 residences in Portland. It seemed like more when I lived there.

The largest single wind generating development in the world is being built on the Oregon/Washington border, and Scottish Power, through its non-regulated subsidiary PacifiCorp Power Marketing (PPM), will purchase the entire energy output for marketing to customers in the West.

FPL Energy is constructing the wind plant, which, when fully operational, will see more than 450 wind turbines capable of producing up to 300 megawatts of electricity — enough to serve the energy needs of 70,000 homes annually or about a third of the residences in Portland, Oregon.

The project makes PPM the leading supplier of renewable resources in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to providing clean energy, Stateline will be an economic boost to rural Washington and Oregon. Located principally on private farmland, the project will provide income to farmers while leaving lands available for crops.
