So? Get your U.S. citizenship. Then all you have to worry about is losing every penny you've ever been able to save in a defense of yourself from some charge or other. Defending oneself against a charge is a non-reimbursable expense, even if you're proven not guilty and all charges are dropped. You can't even sue the government, last I heard. Free room and board on Uncle Sam sounds almost easier.

Scary stuff. As a side not - the Amsterdam airport now takes a retina scan. First time I've encountered that.
