Looks like the log may have been guilty of spamming by signing people up to the new service without asking them to opt in... oops. The lesson of New Coke was that it was a huge marketing SUCCESS. If you want people to connect emotionally with a product, offer them a new one that isn't as good. Then discontinue the offer. Then get them to talk about the whole process a lot... you've just completed the perfect stealth marketing trick. Well done. Sign me up, Scotty.
