Its got to be him coming in with Ken and putting on the 60 odd stand earlier in the season to win us the game. We all knew he was badly injured but great courage and madness!!

In the first game I played for the Gents (v Sunderland SC) SP hit a massive straight six off a fearsome fast bowler called Ben Bradshaw. It was a fantastic game which the Gents won by 4 runs or so. That was also the only time I've met the legendary Mark Ashton.

Sanjay has surprisingly not scored a 50 against West XI but his 4-25 at Old Tens in the 2nd game this season is up there in the SP hall of fame. Sunderland game well remembered Ken - you opened and I ran out Harold Shipman lookalike Dougal Currie.

My favourite moment was the Salix game, before we started the game SP gave a team talk about not giving away extra's and Snarler's first 3 balls were all wide. The look on his face was priceless!!

First game of the BAMC of the season. Not just the fiery opening spell that claimed 2 wickets and left West XI reeling at 8/4, his captaincy on the day was inspiring. From field placements, bowling changes to re-ordering the batting line-up. First class.

Surely that game is memorable for the 2 ridiculous catches that were made, 1 from Ravi...can't remember who took the other.

Six catches that day, a corker from Ravi and routine ones from Denton (easy top edge to 'keeper), Husain (simple c and b), Hemin (dolly to gully), Scibo (lob to mid-wicket) and guest Siddiq (gentle lob to silly mid-off). I will post again in a moment with news of great importance.

Chris Wright has resigned the captaincy of West XI. When he heard, our beloved SP described Chris as "probably the best batsman on our circuit over the last five years."

Even though he won't be captain, he will still be one of the best batsmen on the circuit.

Favourite Sanjay anecdote:

Turning up late one Sunday evening at the Lord Nelson, considerably over-refreshed, and proceeding to give a very callow Rowan Allerton a serious discourse on the facts of life!

Blooming hurt too. DB also tried to mount me after catching Wahed in 2006 at Old Tenisons. It was lke a remake of "Scum" that pavilion! A highly principled, intelligent and passionate man, he would make a good Vice Captain of West XI.

The stats are in the magazine I emailed to you Suman and I'm sure our excellent webmaster will update them on the website soon.

Perhaps an opportune time to say that if anyone wants to take over from me as web master then please make himself known at the AGM.

No need to apologize Suman, if i had scored 85 runs in that game I would be anxious to look at the updated stats too :o)

Personally I think you are doing a great job Ken, don't let us bunch of moaners make you think otherwise.
