Craniac (/m7) try the mock-blog Pat Freestone's Head for that:

How dare you mock my shallow, empty suburban existence with your island adventures. Why not win the lottery and post pictures off all the stuff you buy? Meany.

That's why he brined them, pfile. Hard to get hurt when you're pickeled! :-)

Congrats on you arrival, Mark! I hope the magazine deal pays for the connect costs so you can upload lots of pictures.

just wondering... what is medical care like on the island? i have small children and the only thing i'd worry about with an adventure like this is that one of them would be injured or fall ill and there'd be no appropriate medical care.

Right on.

I have to say though,

I had to pay NZ$525 (US$300) to get an Internet account and it is really really slow.

I think your emphasis here misses a really powerful statement.
Magic fingers, do the editing!

We're in to Rarotonga and I [was able] to get an Internet account.

I mean jesus, come on, you're on a small island in the south pacific ocean! There were only 4,000 telephones reported in the 1999 CIA Fact Book, for a population estimated at 22,000 people. You have net access! Who the hell ran the cable?

Anyway. Carry on senor hipster. This should be interesting. Glad you're getting paid for it.

On June 21, 2003, Mark Frauenfelder and Carla Sinclair will move from Los Angeles to the South Pacific. Our first stop is Rarotonga, a tiny island in the South Pacific. We're brining our two young daughters with us.

You are "brining" them with you? You will be soaking in the saltwater?
I know it is a typo, but it is too funny to pass up!
