last time i checked, kirby didn't create wolverine. also, there was this guy, i think his name's stan lee, man, i think he had a lot to do with marvel too. but what do i know? *snort*

i could catalogue some of the other factual errors in this article, but others have done a better job.

i mean, there will always be a kirby vs. lee dichotomy among hardcore comix fans, but really now, this was just too much. nary a mention of lee in a kirby tribute? weird.

i'm disappointed, i was just beginning to have respect for elvis mitchell after a long love/hate relationship. oh well.

When did Dune come out? Paul is the grandson of the big
fat Harkonen duke, whatever his name was. Course Paul figures
it out and the duke doesn't, so that's backwards.

Actually my guess is that Darth Vader was based more on Doctor Doom of Marvel Comics fame - a classic "Man in the Iron Mask" figure with a disfigured face he caused by his own actions. Marvel also created Thanos, a big gray villain constantly trying to conquer the universe who has been Marvel's second best villain (or perhaps third after the X-Men's Magneto, hard to tell) - I think he was a copy of Darkseid - or maybe it was the other way around. In any event, Jack and Stan Lee were the creators of Doctor Doom, so Jack's influence on Lucas' characters is still likely.

Another tribute article (of sorts) can be found here.
