These don't work for me. While not completely blind in my left eye, I have a scar on my retina that obscures a sizeable area of my vision. So, I think these things require two eyes, but I don't really know because my wife says it works for her even when she closes one. What gives?

My wife looked at the first image and said "wouldn't it be keen to have a floor mosaic like that?"

I remember paving stones in Amsterdam, which were laid out in a similar pattern, rotating like this. Very cool illusions. "The Music", besides flashing those amazingly realistic black dots all over, expands and contracts as you scroll.

For some reason, Mozilla (1.4 on Linux) just shows the HTML source.

That's really cool. Anyone else gone through the whole site? Anyone felt ill looking at the one they say could make you feel sick?
I did get a bit of a headache after looking at too many of these, though!

King ( /m2): Only about half of them worked for me and I have no serious vision problems. Acb ( /m6): Worked fine for me on Linux Firebird (0.6) and that's got to be most of the same code as Moz 1.4.

whoa... I can see some frat papering the walls with these things and using it for part of the hazing experience... if you drink a pint of wild turkey and then stare at the rotating snakes for an hour without passing out or throwing up, you're in.
Making me nauseous and I'm only drinking bottled water...

They seem to work with one eye, too.

Fun stuff... appeared on fark.com a month or two ago. Good to see the Japanese researchers are working new and better ways to make kids throw up and go into seizures: http://www.th-record.com/1997/12-18-97/apcart.htmI'm also beginning to think there's something very peculiar about the average Japanese visual cortex.

Looks alot like Op Art, an art movement from the 60s, where the artist tried to create sensations in the viewer through optical tricks and illusions. Look up Bridget Riley, who was the main proponent of it. (Her stuff is more complex and evoking, but uses the same ideas)
