I know about that sort of thing, Eli. I was just pointing out a tendency in some quarters to reason like this:
Premise 1: I don't do X.
Premise 2: Criminals do X, and it benefits them.
Conclusion: Only criminals would ever do X, and it should be outlawed.

I know you're joking jleader, but that is standard operating proceedure (SOP) here for testing software. We have disk images of about ten configurations of Windows and wipe and reinstall fresh for each test. Testing on other OSs is less methodical, perhaps because of fewer tentacles from install. (This is mostly used for programs not written here, so we can't fully know what the install does before hand.)

I'm more than happy to let my P2P music swapping computer be destoryed... just as long as "the powers that be" realize that networked connected entity known as "My Computer" will probably be sanboxed, VMWare run virtual machine with a DVD-ROM filesystem.
