I'm sure Darryn Anorofscki will illuminate the Lone Wolf stories with many deep and interesting insights into his Japanese culture. It was lacking a Western perspective.

I think of those as inhabiting the Beat Takeshi universe rather than the Zatoichi universe, however, which makes it more bearable for me. I halfway expect to see Elric in them.

What makes me sad is that there are planned Zatoichi remakes. That's like doing remakes of the Indiana Jones movies with an actor other than Harrison Ford. You can't really have Zatoichi without Shintaro Katsu.

Incidental killings will be compressed into a four-second montage of Hand on Hilt/Blade Pull/Glint of Steel/Whip of Sword/Neck Slice/Head Roll/Bloody Steel Slammed into Sheath. You go, Darren.
