Yeah, it's nothing like LOR. Robots are cool. "Robots" will look amazing. Blue Sky really knows their stuff on that end, great animation too (yes, I've seen parts of it).

not to be a downer but the only cgi movies worth their salt have been from pixar so i'm not expecting too much. but hopefully it will be good.

agree with johnny guest. the animation in Ice Age was difficult to watch it was so poorly done. no background movement, no grace in the character animation, so stale it hurt. looks wickedly amateurish compared to Pixar and even Dreamworks (shrek was a fun movie but the animation wasn't even close to Pixar)

well, when you fine folks work your butts off to make a movie under budget and on time then lets talk. Also, the animation in Ice Age was great. You can have your opinion, but when Pixar starts trying to hire away animators from Blue Sky you know they realize that Blue Sky has talent.

i have no doubt that blue sky are fantastic cgi artists but what makes pixar stand high above the rest is their storytelling. they've continued to make one brilliant film after another because they've developed wonderful stories/screenplays which work perfectly for the type of animation they create.

cleo, of the fact that pixar puts storytelling first there is no doubt, and yes it does show in other studios work.

I thought the Shrek animation was all over the place - much of the main character animation was excellent, much of the minor character animation was very poor. I guess they got their priorities right...

You would only need to watch the first five minutes of Ice Age, or Gone Nutty, the short on the Ice Age DVD, to know that Blue Sky's visual storytelling rivals Pixar's.
