Dear whomever, Are there any present efforts in Finland by Finns to locate any descendants of actual Finnish kings and queens? I understand that Finland did have kings up to the year 1000 to 1100. There were Finnish gold and silver coins with images of Finnish kings or queens on same. Just curious.

I have no sympathy for your man who would be king, and had a good laugh at the story of the former $300,000-a-year dotcom exec who is now selling khakis at the Gap. Not at him, actually, but at the assumptions implicit in the story. The story-teller expects us to believe that this guy deserved $300,000, and for him to be condemned to refolding polo shirts for a living is a sad and sorry fate for him-- though not, oddly, for his fellow Gapsters, whom we are expected to believe deserve no better. But what if the opposite were true-- that dotcom man just got lucky a few years ago, and has finally found his true station in life? Think about The Bubble and what that word means-- something insubstantial, over-inflated, destined to burst-- and see if my version of the story doesn't make just as much sense.

You can see a little television interview that the "King of Finland" did for the Helsinki newspaper at: http://www.nyt.fi/paasivu.asp?path=84863;3...no=361440&submain=1Scroll down to "Kuninkaalliset" (Royals) and "Suomen Kuningas" (Finland's King). There's a link to the realplayer interview... the interview itself is in English since the "King" does not know Finnish. He seems like a great guy, and could have possibly made a fine king.

"He's worked as an assistant to Annie Leibovitz, and is hoping to follow in her footsteps."
Well, he could make a move on Jann Wenner's wife if he still had one.

In that case, he needs to dig up Janis, Jimi, and John and learn to light them very carefully.

It does sound like a set-up for a reality show.
