I was present for the Power Tool Drag Races, and I dunno about no "happy, fuzzy, bouncy" robots, especially if the robots become HF&B if they're dressed up. For instance, one of the entries sported a blond female mannequin head in front, and a pair of round, bouncy, and apparently happy cloth-stuffed buttocks in the back. There's a picture of her linked from the blog entry.
One of my favorite happy HF&B moments of the afternoon was when this entry was paired with a slightly slower entry with a plastic devil head mounted in front. The blonde babe not only won her heat, but when the devil-head entry came in slightly slower, it zoomed off the track and embedded itself devil-head-first between the blonde babe's buttocks.
Fairly brought tears to my eyes, it did.

One of my favorite 'bots from the BattleBots thing was one that was made by a teenage girl and he dad. She drove the thing to a minor victory, and did really well. The robot was more or less a kiddie swimming pool (the kind with a lid) in the shape of a giant ladybug. This was perfect armor, for it was made to withstand little kids, a force much mroe formatible than the other mid-small robots that were in her compitition class. Under the armor, was a high-speed grinding wheel on a robotic arm. The robot would ram it's oppants, then raise it's 'lid' of armor up a foot, then clamp it down partially over the top of the other robot, pinning it to the floor while it went to work with the grinder on it. It was a brilliant design, deadly in the ring, and cute! So maybe some of the SRL crew just needs a teenage girl consultant...

For "happy, bouncy, fuzzy robots" they should dress them in fancy fake furs and pin-up girl prints.
