No need to travel to Bali to see this. Mamie, at the Knoxville Zoo, has her paintings sold through the zoo store for $35.00. And Ruby, at the Phoenix Zoo, reportedly has gotten over $3000 for hers.
...no telling how much they'd fetch if the pachyderms were socially dysfunctional, self-destructive, obesessive-compulsive, and dead...

There were some good dead elephant painters, like Remembrant, who was a HUGE talent. But he was thick-skinned, and even-tempered.
You’re probably thinking of Vincent Van Goat.

"Elephant art" has a quite a good response on goggle. Plus
there is elephant music.

What other elephant creativity is there, I wonder?

AMW International Co. Ltd. a Bangkok based entertainment pr and marketing boutique is pleased to announce our e-commerce site www.Elephant-Paintings.com : doing our small part to help Thai "camped" elephants and bring these amazing unique Elephant art creations to connoisseurs throughout the world.

A painting often conveys the inner thoughts and feelings of the artist, messages sometimes of deep personal importance. But what if the artist is an elephant? Do they draw subjects from memory? Are they expressing something meaningful in color choice and composition? Is the final product art or just the result of random brush strokes? Living and working in SE Asia, we are exposed to elephants on almost a daily basis. These gentle, intelligent creatures no longer work in the logging industry and sadly are treated quite poorly, despite the fact that in Thailand anyway, they have near human status (domesticated elephants are all given a name and registerd). As we travel around Thailand, we acquire "Art" created by elephants and on a very select basis, human art depicting elephants. Presently, our gallery contains Art from more Elephant Artists than any other in the world. (we also maintain stock not seen on internet so if you don't see anything you like, ask!) All our selections are one-of-a-kind, rare art pieces.
