I've had natto before, it's really not that bad. It's kinda heavy any I could never eat a full serving of it, but it didn't taste bad. It's definatly a little slimey and odd compared to american food. Natto burgers are probably VERY filling in that cheap college food sorta way.

What are those two purple blobs at the bottom of the page,
though?

If it doesn't get all over the place, the natto doesn't belong in your face.

while natto doesn't *taste* horrific, its less than appitizing scent leaves many westerners (such as myself) less than willing to eat it. Also the natto burger posted yesterday was supposed to be a Chicken-katsu (like tonkatsu [pork cutlet]) burger with curry sauce and instead of using buns...they were using the traditional bread "nan."

****This natto burger is (from what I gathered) is NOT an official product of McDonald's but rather just a cheap hamburger from Mcdonald's with store bought natto slathered on top of it.****

If you can read the Japanese, the first line under the "natto cheeseburger" line it says: materials: McDonald's cheeseburger
While fermented food products are supposed to be good for your health, I still have no craving for natto after smelling it more than once. :(

%@!#$!@ I hate when I pressed return on accident submitting the message too early. >_<;;

anyhow it says
materials: mcdonald's cheeseburger, and organically grown natto.

if you look closely at the second picture, there is clearly a little emptied natto container. ^_^; I'm proud that I could actually read all of that.

above those "two purple blobs" is the word that means "evaluation/rating." Those two purple blobs are actually lumps of feces. @_@;;;
It looks like this page has a lot of "challenges" for two people to eat things that aren't a regular part of the Japanese diet. (and I'm not talking about the legislative body. ) Complete notes with notes about the taste(lessness) of the food.
For example, the 2nd menu item is: raw fatty tuna with green onion and whipping cream.

I think you folks get the idea.

Natto is pretty good if you get the right kind, most of it is crap but there are a few really fragrant and delicious brands. It's sort of like eating refritos or some similary bean dish but with a different texture. You have to stir it up and get it into the right texture before it's properly edible, like most of these Japanese foods, there's a whole ritual about this, even if you're eating a serving out of a styrofoam box. I especially like ikasashi (squid sashimi) over natto.
I stayed at a lodging house in Japan where they served dinner every night with a little natto container at every place-setting. Over the weeks, I observed that that hardly any Japanese people ate the natto, I asked a around and most of them said they disliked it. But I always noticed a few people who would polish off a couple of boxes with gusto.
